Coffee Acidity
Acidity is a quality that is sought after in coffee, as it is an indicator of high quality, good processing, and freshness. Since we are all different, we each have a different affinity and taste for acidity in our coffee.
While Van Houtte doesn’t have coffees that have been treated to reduce acidity, there are several products that could offer alternatives with less acidity.
Decaffeinated coffees are a good alternative. The process used to decaffeinate coffee washes away some flavour components of the coffee, and the result is often a lot less acidic than with regular coffees, which makes it a good replacement.
If you want less acidity but still enjoy the kick of caffeine, we would recommend coffees that are dark roasted because acidity components are burned out during roasting. As coffee gets darker in roast, acidity decreases and bitterness increases. So dark roast coffees would also provide a low acidity coffee while keeping all the great benefits of coffee intact!
While browsing Van Houtte coffee, I would recommend coffees with the Bold & Woodsy Coffee Profile – those would combine the two elements of providing darker roast and less acidic flavours.
We hope you’ll be able to find something that will please both your stomach and your palate!
