The Van Houtte Coffee Getaway: A Round-Up
In early November, Van Houtte invited six bloggers from across Canada to experience Van Houtte coffee in the romantic setting of Old Montréal.
They are Tanis from The Attack of the Red Neck Mommy , Jody from Mommy Moment , Kevin from Closet Cooking , Mijune from Follow Me Foodie , Jeannette from Everybody Likes Sandwiches and Karen from Tiny Bites and Foodists . Over these few days, our guest bloggers discovered Montreal’s coffee culture in grand style.
CHOCOLATE, COFFEE PROFILES AND “ONE OF THE BEST MEALS” WE EVER HAD
We started with a visit of the Van Houtte roasting installation followed by a cupping session.
The cupping session helped the bloggers understand their Coffee Profile, all just in time for a chocolate and coffee pairing based on our taste preferences. Vancouver-based chocolatier and new Van Houtte ambassador Wendy Boys offered exquisite chocolates!
The day wasn’t over, and more coffee was on the menu for everyone. A decadent, unique coffee-inspired menu was developed by Marc-André Royal at restaurant Le St-Urbain for everyone. It was so good, recipe and food blogger Jeannette even said on Twitter that it was “one of the best meals she ever had.”
BRUNCH, WINE AND HORSE CARRIAGE ON SATURDAY
Saturday was an activity-filled day that started at the beautiful Suite 701 for brunch. As the morning sun filled the room, we drank our lattes and did a quick video interview with each guest blogger. A video I am very anxious to share with everyone.
Once the lattes were done, we jumped onto a horse carriage and had a romantic afternoon tour of the old port in Montréal. After a few hours of free time, we grouped together for a cupcake and Coffee Profiles pairing. I can assure you, a few bloggers, a cupcake and a coffee are truly meant to be. We had a blast tasting each of the mini cupcakes and matching them with the different coffees. Before dinner, we met with sommelier Rachel Kerswell, who taught us through a fun game how to taste wine and how to match it to each of the Coffee Profiles. The night was topped off with an authentic Italian dinner at restaurant Osteria Venti.
Meeting our six guest bloggers was truly the highlight of the event. Each one came to the coffee table with a completely different background and set of interests. Over the next six weeks, we will feature one guest blogger each week. From recipe gurus, to lifestyle and Mommy bloggers, to food and drink enthusiasts, every voice was different and exciting.
We’re truly excited to introduce them to the Van Houtte community! Stay tuned.
