Pairing Coffee with Snacks
A coffee break without a snack? Blasphemous!
Every cup of coffee deserves a nice snack. But picking the right one for your coffee is not always as easy. Sure your typical social cookies or bagels are sure shots, but you want something different! Here are some tips to match coffee and snacks, perfectly.
The first thing to do is ask yourself, do I want sweet or savoury right now?
If you know what you want, you’re more than half way there. Depending on your mood and taste you might enjoy something sweet like a danish, or something savoury like a bowl of cashews. Both go great with a cup of coffee!
Now take a look at you cup, what kind of roast or Coffee Profile coffee are you drinking?
Most coffees fit under a Coffee Profile . Some coffees taste very different from others, so matching your snack with your specific coffee is an important element for finding the perfect pairing.
You can go for a harmony or disharmony between your coffee and your snack. That means that you will either pair you coffee with something that features similar flavours or something that counterparts them. For example citrus notes of a Velvety & Fruity coffee will be enhanced when paired with an orange bread while the cacao and nutty taste of a Bold & Woodsy coffee will be complemented by a cranberry muffin.
Are you a dipper?
Simply enough, do you like to dip your treat in your coffee or not? If I could, I would dip anything in my coffee. I love the taste of the fresh and hot coffee on my snack. Typically, anything you want to dip in your coffee has to be sweet, so let’s go back to the first tip to help us out here.
With these three cardinal snack and coffee rules, you can easily come to a perfect snack choice. Try it and see for yourself. What will you be pairing with your next cup?
