At Van Houtte, we understand the importance of sustainability and how it needs to be integrated into all of our business practices.

That’s why we are committed to not only care about the quality of the coffee we roast, but also care about the environment and all the relationships that help us deliver on our goals. It involves all our stakeholders, including our consumers, customers, employees, suppliers, and local and supply-chain communities. To do so, we are implementing initiatives across our organization to become a more environmentally and socially responsible company.

Background

In 2009-2010, Van Houtte has developed a sound corporate social responsibility (CSR) plan jointly with Deloitte, a worldwide renowned international consulting firm. Van Houtte’s CSR plan includes six practice areas, and each one of them has specific projects:

  • Partnering with supply-chain communities
  • Supporting local communities
  • Protecting the environment
  • Building demand for sustainable products
  • Creating a great place to work
  • Working together for change

Van Houtte now has a clear CSR vision: To become one of the CSR leaders in its competitive environment by leveraging people’s pride, passion and dedication. This vision relies on profound convictions supported by Van Houtte management and employees.
